Actively looking for 2 Architectural Professionals for one of our Oil & Gas clients located in Houston, TX .

Job Title: Architectural Professional

Pay Rate: $65-$75/hr

Location: Houston, TX

Type: potential contract-to-hire

Position Summary: The Architectural Professional is responsible for planning and executing architectural work within a global business unit, utilizing independent judgment to apply and adapt architectural techniques, procedures, and criteria. This role involves designing, drafting, and coordinating architectural layouts and construction drawings, while addressing complex design challenges. The Architectural Professional will also collaborate across disciplines and assist in developing innovative solutions to project-related problems.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Design & Planning:

  • Prepare detailed architectural designs and layouts for small buildings and portions of larger projects.
  • Develop specifications, construction drawings, and material interface details for review by senior personnel.

Design & Drafting:

  • Create architectural designs and 2-D/3-D CAD models, using software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit, ensuring that designs are aligned with project requirements and specifications.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration:

  • Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines, reviewing supplier and subcontractor design submissions for compliance with architectural and engineering requirements.

Training & Development:

  • Support on-the-job training and development for junior personnel, including designers and drafters.

Project Support:

  • Assist in the preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs, and change orders, and participate in project studies that apply architectural principles.

Independent Judgment & Problem Solving:

  • Evaluate and apply architectural presentation techniques, using independent judgment to adapt and modify standard practices as needed.

Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with design standards, company procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Recommend approval of design drawings and data after evaluating them for adherence to project requirements.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Stay informed on current architectural trends, construction methods, industry codes, and regulatory standards.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of architectural concepts, materials, techniques, and construction methods.
  • Familiarity with construction practices, economics, and the application of engineering procedures to architectural work.

CAD & Design Tools:

  • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and other relevant tools for 2-D/3-D architectural design.

Problem Solving & Innovation:

  • Strong ability to assess design challenges and develop practical, creative solutions, considering technical and financial constraints.

Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of current industry codes, standards, and design criteria relevant to architectural work.

Supervision & Reporting:

Supervision Received:

  • Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from senior supervisors, such as a Senior Designer, Senior Engineer, or Engineering Supervisor.

Supervision Exercised:

  • May provide direction and technical guidance to junior designers and drafters assigned to specific tasks.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Establishes and maintains communication with design, engineering, and administrative teams, and may consult with suppliers, technical specialists, and client representatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 9 years of project design experience in architecture, including work across a variety of building types and industries.
  • A recognized architectural license or degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent specialized training in architectural design, planning, and construction.
  • Practical work experience in architecture, supplemented by relevant experience in allied areas of the building industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in heavy industrial architecture, including projects in chemical, oil and gas, or refinery sectors. Light industrial experience may also be considered.
  • Proven track record in brownfield and greenfield projects.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of architectural work planning, scheduling, and cost estimation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge in an independent and judgment-based manner.
  • Proven experience in coordinating architectural work with other technical disciplines to achieve project goals.
