Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Driver, Support Staff, Counselor & Case Management positions are instrumental in providing day-to-day support to clients in their recovery journey, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Basic Job Duties - All Staff

  • Supervise and support clients in the residential treatment facility, ensuring adherence to center rules and policies while promoting a safe and respectful environment.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and maintaining a clean and organized living space.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients as they navigate their recovery process.
  • Monitor clients’ behavior and provide immediate assistance or intervention when necessary, including reporting any safety concerns or behavioral issues to senior staff.
  • Facilitate group activities and discussions designed to foster community, personal growth, and recovery skills.
  • Assist in conducting regular room checks, ensuring clients’ safety and compliance with the treatment center’s policies.
  • Support staff in maintaining records related to client participation, attendance, and behavior.
  • Help implement and reinforce individual treatment plans, offering encouragement and feedback to clients as they work towards their goals.
  • Escort clients to appointments, group therapy, 12-step meetings, and other off-site activities as needed.
  • Observe clients self-administering prescribed medication and document appropriately.
  • Maintain communication with the clinical team, including therapists, case managers, and other support staff, to ensure clients is receiving the appropriate care.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining logs, completing reports, and organizing client materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices in addiction treatment and residential support.
  • Model healthy behaviors and recovery principles, including positive coping skills and emotional regulation, to clients and the team.
  • Support the cleanliness and order of the facility by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring that shared spaces are organized and welcoming.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the lights-out policy—clients must be in bed at the designated time. Activities such as watching television, eating, and talking beyond the permitted hours are not allowed.
  • Facility Maintenance: Perform essential cleaning tasks, including: Cleaning the office and any other areas that need attention; Sweeping nightly and mopping weekly (or more frequently as needed); Spraying bathtubs and toilets with a bleach solution to prevent mold; Emptying trash bins; Stocking printers with paper; Scanning indoor and outdoor areas for cleanliness and safety concerns and reporting any issues
  • Professional Conduct: Personal phone, television, or computer use (both personal and company-provided) is strictly prohibited unless directly related to work duties.
  • Client Monitoring (Rounds): Conduct regular client checks throughout the shift: Every 15 minutes for detox clients; Every 30 minutes for residential clients; document all checks on the appropriate forms
  • Health & Safety Monitoring: Take and document vital signs as required.
  • Communication & Reporting: Review and initial all previous shift reports since your last worked shift. Complete a detailed shift report and communicate important updates to relief staff.
  • Perform 100% Quality Assurance (QA) checks on client charts after admission to ensure compliance.
  • Complete all necessary reports, such as Incident Reports and Premature Discharge Reports.
  • When working an eight-hour shift alone, you must remain on-site for your meal break.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in psychology, social work, or related fields is preferred.
  • Maintain an active and in-good-standing substance abuse credential, certification, or registration with an approved credentialing body
  • Minimum certification of a RADT, CMPSS or related credential is required for all positions except as a driver.
  • Experience in a supportive or care giving role, particularly in substance abuse, mental health or healthcare setting, is highly desirable.
  • Compassionate, non-judgmental, and empathetic attitude toward individuals in recovery from addiction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while developing rapport with clients.
  • Understanding of addiction, recovery, and the challenges individuals face during treatment.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and de-escalate conflicts as they arise.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to document client information accurately.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evening, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Compliance: First Aid/CPR certification is required. Ability to regularly pass a drug screening and background check. TB testing annually.
