About the Team

The New Verticals Inventory Intelligence team at DoorDash is dedicated to enhancing the shopping experience by improving inventory accuracy and availability across Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, and Retail businesses. This team plays a critical role in ensuring customers receive exactly what they want by leveraging machine learning (ML) predictions and real-time inventory infrastructure .

About the Role

As an Engineering Manager , you will lead a team of exceptional backend engineers to develop end-to-end solutions that deliver 100% accurate, real-time inventory signals to consumers. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, ML Engineers, and key stakeholders to define the vision, strategy, and execution for inventory intelligence. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership experience, and a passion for innovation in real-time serving systems and ML-based inventory predictions .

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a team of 8+ backend engineers to build and optimize real-time inventory systems .
• Define and execute the team’s technical vision and roadmap in collaboration with Product Managers, ML Engineers, and Business leaders .
• Oversee the development of ML-based inventory prediction systems to improve accuracy.
• Provide technical and architectural guidance , ensuring the team adopts best practices in system design, scalability, and data infrastructure .
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning while driving technical excellence.
• Own the hiring and talent development strategy , working closely with recruiting to build a diverse and inclusive team .

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience , leading backend teams in high-scale environments.
• Strong expertise in real-time data systems, distributed systems, and backend infrastructure .
• Experience working with ML-driven products and collaborating with ML teams.
• Proven ability to define and execute strategic roadmaps in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring and scaling teams .
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced, high-impact environments .
