Founding Engineer

Location : New York City (on-site but flex on remote working if needed)

Type : Full-time

Compensation : $160K – $200K + Equity

About the Company :

This young startup is taking on big problems in American industry with AI-powered tools that simplify HR and back-office workflows. Their goal is to tackle tough labor challenges with smart tech and clean design.

They've just launched (last month) on the back of a $3.5m funding — things are off to a really strong start. The team’s been building quietly for a couple years, so even though they’re only 8/9 months in officially, they had plenty of runway to set things up right.

The founding engineer is ex-Tesla (5yrs).

exp working with FAANG / Vercel is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities :

• Feature Development : Build high-velocity, best-in-class software, contributing to the product roadmap and developing new features from scratch.
• User-Focused Solutions : Develop empathy for users to design and implement impactful, user-centered solutions.
• Technical Excellence : Maintain high standards for code quality, technical decision-making, and codebase maintainability as the team grows.
• Autonomous Execution : Take ownership of projects and execute independently, driving impactful outcomes without the need for explicit instructions.
• Team Collaboration : Scale your skills alongside the company and assist in recruiting and mentoring future engineering hires.

Qualifications :

• They're building with TypeScript / React / Node / Postgres - so you'll need experience with these
• Experience with data pipelines and modern AI (e.g LLMs / autonomous agents) is desirable
• At least 2 years of experience contributing to technically complex projects or exceptional products.
• Strong proficiency in both backend and frontend development, with high standards for performance and maintainability.
• Ability to work at a fast pace and navigate ambiguity with ease.
• Passion for continuous learning, exploring new technologies, and honing your craft.
• Bonus: Experience collaborating directly with customers to deliver tailored solutions.
