Job Description

We are a rapidly growing organization in the Lyndhurst, NJ area. We are seeking to hire a Quality Control Specialist to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following responsibilities:

Report directly to the Quality Control Manager. The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the quality and food safety of the product. The QC Specialist follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and product quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, implementation, and verification of food safety programs, food safety plans, allergen control programs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of raw materials, production processes and finish goods to ensure compliance with established specifications, GFSI standards and food safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of quality checks, test results and corrective actions.
  • Ensure that documents align with GFSI standards and is ready for internal audits or external certification assessments.
  • Ensures and educates employees on GMP, food safety, and SQF standards.
  • Responsible to issue disciplinary action when directed.
  • Collecting product samples for lab testing.
  • Participate in internal audits, food safety audits and quality audits to ensure adherence to (Global Food Safety Initiative) requirements and to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Lead traceability investigations on the source of quality lapses and other product issues.
  • Manage the supplier evaluation and approval process ensuring that they meet company quality requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide training to production staff on GFSI standards, food safety practices and quality control protocols to foster a quality culture and safety across the organization.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+years of Quality Control experience
  • 1+ years of food environment
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and industry standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Able to determine appropriate corrective actions when needed and carry out those corrective actions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • The preferred candidate will possess five years’ experience within the food quality assurance industry,
  • Experience with HACCP, Food Safety Plans.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
