Job Description

Trust Officer

Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking a Trust Officer for a direct hire opportunity with a financial services client.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule proactive meetings with customers, prospective customers and Centers of Influence (COIs).
  • Track and report on calls and pipeline details.
  • Participate in bank-sponsored events designed to strengthen customer relationships and networks.
  • Grow and maintain customer relationships by identifying banking opportunities, strategizing proactive business development activities, cultivating referral networks, and focusing on viable target markets.
  • Maintain business relationships with customers, attorneys, and beneficiaries relating to the management of trust accounts.
  • Analyzes the needs of existing and potential customers considering account profitability and other related factors to market the appropriate bank products/services.
  • Prepares trust and business development presentations, and writes proposals for presentations to management, bank customers, potential clients, or governmental entities.
  • Administers highly complex trust and other fiduciary accounts and ensures compliance with enabling documents, department policies and procedures, applicable regulations, statutes and legal precedents.
  • Directs and coordinates the compilation of information required for fiduciary account management, making recommendations.
  • Oversees tax planning and tax preparation.
  • Assists with business development plans for policies and procedures.
  • Assists with preparation of financial and regulatory reports required by law and the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, accounting or finance required plus six years advanced trust officer experience required.
  • Client relationship management experience.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and working knowledge of sound fiduciary principles required.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Proven experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Skilled in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups, management, clients, attorneys, and accountants.
  • Understanding of mathematical principles such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficiency in interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several variables.
  • Preferred: Law degree, eight years related experience of which six will be advanced trust officer experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Marketing experience, professional trust certification; supervisory/lead experience and experience managing involved processes.
