Relay Testing Experience for Substations for Utility Company

Mid - Senior Level

Long term contract position - 2029

Location- Burke, NY or Phoenix, AZ

Responsibilities

It’s all new substation development (Greenfield)

The individual in this role will be responsible for the installation, testing, inspection, calibration, and repair of various system protection devices, transducers, and equipment (including microprocessor-based and electronic relays, circuits, protective controls, switchboards, and other substation apparatus) across Client’s electric transmission and distribution systems. This includes ensuring the reliable operation of equipment and systems while adhering to industry standards.

Key Qualifications:

MUST HAVE RELAY TESTING EXPERIENCE FOR SUBSTATIONS

61850 experience a major plus

• Proficient knowledge of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) theory, as well as protective relaying schemes.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting construction plans, manufacturer drawings, and specifications, as well as schematic diagrams.
• Experience with Omicron testing and/or a solid understanding of IEC 61850 protocol is highly desirable.
• Strong familiarity with relay test sets to verify protective device settings, with prior experience using tools such as Doble Protest, SEL AcSELerator, and ENOSERVE RTS being an asset.
• Comfortable utilizing computers and relevant programs essential for performing key responsibilities.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues using sound judgment and strong attention to detail.
• Solid written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to collaborate effectively within the team and with clients.
• A valid driver’s license in good standing, issued by the state of residence, is required.
